History and origins
The locality presents the temple's Lý–Trần origins as a transmitted tradition. Later repairs left many Lê- and Nguyễn-period artistic features. The steles of 1625 and 1709 are important sources on resident communities, donors and trading activity in Phố Hiến.
Architecture & surroundings
The front hall, incense hall, upper sanctuary and corridors form an inner arrangement resembling 工 within an outer enclosure resembling 國. The upper sanctuary houses a many-armed Quan Âm Nam Hải statue, with bodhisattva statues in front. Tiled roofs, paved courtyards and greenery create a quiet transition into the worship space.
Cultural value
Quan Âm Nam Hải is associated with the trading community's hope for safety on rivers and at sea. The longan tree connects the temple's story with local longan cultivation; the tree now seen is a tended successor grown from the ancestral tree, not the entire ancient trunk preserved intact.
Events & festivals
The Hiến communal-house and temple complex is a venue for cultural life in Phố Hiến. On 7-8-2026, an incense-offering ceremony there opened the Hưng Yên Longan Festival and Trade Promotion programme. Please follow temple and local announcements for upcoming ceremonies and activities.
