History and origins
According to local monument records, the monk Ngộ Chân Tử built Tam Giáo Đường in 1953. In 1954, when the monk Thích Thanh Quang took charge, it was named Phổ Chiếu and developed within the Lâm Tế tradition. During periods of resistance, the site supported revolutionary activity and served as a command and shelter location. It was designated a city-level resistance-history monument in 2005. Subsequent construction and restoration, including renovation of the main sanctuary in 2016, shaped its present appearance.
Architecture & surroundings
The complex combines curved-roof worship halls with newer buildings. Its gateway has several entrances and roof tiers, while the nine-storey stupa is a prominent landmark from a distance. A structure inspired by the One Pillar Temple stands above a pond, with corridors and courtyards connecting different areas.
Cultural value
Phổ Chiếu's importance lies both in Buddhist study and practice and in the historical memory of Lê Chân residents. The monument records help visitors understand the role of a religious institution in community life across different periods.
Events & festivals
Local materials record observances of the first lunar full moon, the Buddha's birthday and Vu Lan at the temple. Ceremony times and programmes may change each year; please consult the temple's announcements so that your visit is convenient and respectful.
