History and origins

According to Thái Nguyên provincial sources, the inscription on the stone incense pillar in front of the temple records the year 1719. Through successive repairs and restoration, the complex became a focus of local religious life and an early-spring destination. It was recognized as a Provincial Historical and Cultural Relic in 2005.

Architecture & surroundings

The site comprises devotional buildings, courtyards and paths that follow the terrain. The Buddhist temple is dedicated to the Buddha; the communal house honours tutelary deity Dương Tự Minh, while Công Đồng and Thượng shrines are connected with Mother Goddess worship. Sources mention a stone incense pillar and an old tree in front of the Buddhist temple.

Cultural value

Cầu Muối reflects the presence of several forms of belief within a village setting. Buying salt at the beginning of the year is a folk custom often mentioned in introductions to the area, expressing residents’ wishes for a harmonious year.

The Cầu Muối complex’s festival usually opens on the fourth day of the first lunar month. In 2026, the opening took place on 20 February with ceremonies, cultural activities and performances, and visitor programmes continued until the end of the first lunar month.
