History and origins
Research on Buddhism in Lào Cai records that residents no longer remember the precise founding year. Stories about Lý Lợi and Phó Ngà belong to local folk tradition. The Đôi Cô Shrine – Cam Lộ Temple complex was designated a provincial historical and cultural monument in 2005.
Architecture & surroundings
The temple includes a Buddha hall, courtyard and communal areas supporting study and practice. Buddha and Avalokiteśvara statues stand within the grounds. Railed steps, tiled roofs and greenery create a quiet setting beside Đôi Cô Shrine.
Cultural value
Its role as a rains-retreat centre continues the monastic tradition of retreat, cultivation of ethical discipline and Buddhist learning. The adjacent temple and shrine both serve local spiritual life but have distinct objects of worship and ritual programmes.
Events & festivals
On 29/6/2024, the temple held the formal opening of Dharma teaching for the rains retreat of Buddhist Era 2568. The Đôi Cô Shrine festival belongs to the neighbouring shrine and should not be equated with the temple's own ceremonial calendar. Please follow temple announcements for each year's retreats and ceremonies.
