Understanding the calendar

The Gregorian date identifies the civil day. Lunar dates use the Vietnamese calendar at UTC+7, with leap months clearly labeled. Changing the language changes presentation only; it does not switch to the Chinese calendar.

The lunar month stem and branch differ from the solar-term month branch used for day officers. Solar-term months change at Beginning of Spring, Awakening of Insects, Clear and Bright, and the corresponding terms; this tool uses the new month for the entire civil date containing the transition.

A lunar month begins on the civil day containing the new moon; month 11 contains the winter solstice. In a thirteen-month cycle, the first month without a principal solar term after the winter solstice is intercalary. Dates from 1900 to 2100 use modern UTC+7 rules, without reconstructing historical time-zone changes.

Method and references

Lunar dates and cyclical days use Vietnam time (UTC+7). Day officers follow solar-term months: a day sharing the month branch is Establish, followed by the twelve-officer sequence. On a transition date, the new solar-term month applies to the whole civil day.

Day classifications use the day branch and lunar month; leap months retain the same month number. Auspicious hours use the day branch separately. Rat hour is shown from 23:00 on the previous day to 01:00 on the selected date. For 23:00 today, consult the next date’s Rat hour.

The filter favors auspicious-class days with a suitable day officer and no Tam Nuong or monthly avoidance flag. Any caution leads to a consideration label; missing or conflicting guidance stays neutral. This is the tool’s combined rule, not a luck score.

Activity guidance refers to Phong Thủy Tường Minh’s twelve-officer table. Entries listed as both suitable and unsuitable remain inconclusive. This filter does not include personal age compatibility, the twenty-eight lunar mansions or departure directions.
