  • The white Buddha on Trại Thủy Hill
  • The main hall and bell tower
  • A stepped route with a reclining Buddha entering nirvāṇa

History and origins

The temple was founded in 1886, in the late 19th century. After the storm of 1900, it was moved from the hill to the lower site. Building and restoration continued through the 20th and 21st centuries.

Architecture & surroundings

The main hall stands at the foot of the hill. Steps lead to shrines, the bell tower and the white Buddha; the statue and base together are approximately 24 m high, with the statue itself about 14 m.

Visits usually begin at the lower temple and follow steps up Trại Thủy Hill. The reclining Buddha and white Buddha occupy different locations; introductory photographs help distinguish the stops and plan a suitable route.

Cultural value

Long Sơn is a local Buddhist centre. Reliefs beneath the statue’s base recall Bodhisattva Thích Quảng Đức and the Buddhist events of 1963.

The Kim Thân Phật Tổ statue is a familiar image of Nha Trang, while the main hall remains an active worship space. Visitors can explore local history while preserving quiet in the temple’s religious setting.

Events & festivals

Buddha’s Birthday, Vu Lan, teachings and practice activities follow programmes announced for each period. The temple is also associated with the social-welfare work of Khánh Hòa’s Buddhist community.
